Holding Onto Faith
I’ve been a Christian for as long as I can remember. My faith has had a significant impact on me in every phase of my life, and is incredibly important to who I am today.
My faith has not always been easy, however, and I’ve had to reconcile with it as I’ve grown up. I’ve questioned whether God is just, truthful, or if He even exists. I’ve had my Christian worldview shaken a few times, and it’s forced me to reconsider my faith. I’ve spent countless hours questioning why I believe, and at a few points I even considered leaving the Church. God, however, has been faithful to me through it all.
I’ve learned that faith is the most important part to a Christian walk. God might not be evident in every aspect of life, and it might be difficult to follow what you can’t see or comprehend. God requires we truly seek Him before he makes himself evident to us. God uses the faithful, and He honors those who live by the unseen.
I’ve seen God’s hand in my life and in the lives of my peers, and I know He really does change people. I see a clear contrast in the lives of people in my life before, and after they choose to follow God. I know He has a hand in shaping our everyday life, and I’ve accepted that I cannot comprehend everything He’s involved in. I haven’t given up seeking answers or seeking truth, but I’ve given up the need to have everything answered. Every day, I follow God, I have to choose to live by faith and trust what He has in store for me.
What do you think?
If this story has encouraged you to place your faith in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord, you can do so right now, or anytime you are ready, by sincerely expressing a simple prayer to Him. Prayer is simply talking with God. The exact words are not as important as the attitude of your heart. Here is a suggested prayer:“Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross to pay for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Start making me the kind of person you want me to be.”
