Who is God?

Who is God?

I come from a Christian family and upbringing, so my faith in God has remained relatively strong all my life. The struggle I have is not with my faith in God, but with my perception of God’s character. I needed to ask the question: ‘Is God who He says He is?’ In high school, despite all of my success and achievement, I disobeyed God by letting lust control my heart. I was in a couple relationships, and ultimately they were destined to fail because my values did not align with my girlfriend’s beliefs. At the time, I really desired and needed God’s grace and love, not another relationship. Thankfully, I found Badger Cru my 1st year at UW-Madison. I am so thankful for a Christ centered community that keeps me rooted in my faith, with a crystal clear belief in God’s character. I discovered the answer to my previous question is a resounding “YES!” No matter how hard our struggle, or how deep the temptation God is always bigger! Your struggles can be overcome with full vulnerability before the Lord. Step out from the dark, and witness the power of heaven in your life!

My parting advice would be to get out a sheet of paper and write down some of your most salient beliefs as well as questions you have about life. (Ex: Why is there pain & suffering in a world that God created?) Also, I would like you to contemplate their circle of friends: Do you feel loved? Would your friends be there for you in a time of need? Do I trust my friends? Even if you answered yes to all of these questions I would like to recommend checking out a Christian organization on campus. Personally, Badger Cru has been where I found the most genuine people to build risk-free friendships with. Finally, Badger Cru has helped me find answers to some of my biggest questions and accept God for who He is. Remember that even in times when we doubt, sin, or grieve God still loves and cares for us.

What do you think?

If this story has encouraged you to place your faith in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord, you can do so right now, or anytime you are ready, by sincerely expressing a simple prayer to Him. Prayer is simply talking with God. The exact words are not as important as the attitude of your heart. Here is a suggested prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross to pay for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Start making me the kind of person you want me to be.”
