Wowed by His Sovereignty
I clearly remember the day I accepted Jesus into my heart. So much time has passed since that day and there are so many things that could be shared about the way He has brought me to where I am now. But after reflecting on the story Jesus and I share, there is one specific instance in which I saw the Lord move oh so clearly in my life that I love to share. This specific instance was when I transferred to UW-Madison. I started college at a small private school near Chicago called Trinity Christian College, and to be honest, freshmen year was really hard for me. The small-Christian community that was Trinity had become stifling, and, after being a part of small Christian communities all of my life, I was ready for something more. So, at winter break I decided it was time to make a change. I decided to apply to UW-Madison, and as I was praying over it I told the Lord that if this change, transferring to UW-Madison, was what he has for me three things needed to happen. One, I needed to get it. Two, my credits needed to transfer, and three, I needed to find a roommate. And slowly, but surely, one by one, the Lord did all three of those things. However, in my weakness and my doubt I still struggled with committing to this huge change until one day driving home from work, listening to Christian radio, a lady came on the air and she said, “I don’t know why, but I felt the Lord nudging me to call on air because someone needs to hear this IT’S OKAY TO LEAVE.” I was blown away. I remember crying in my car because to me God used that women as an actual audible voice confirming His plans for me. So, after that, I felt beyond confirmed that it was time to transfer, so I did. I transferred here to UW-Madison. And while it has not always been easy, God has been so faithful. I know God has me here for a reason, and I am so very excited to continue to discover what that is.
What do you think?
If this story has encouraged you to place your faith in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord, you can do so right now, or anytime you are ready, by sincerely expressing a simple prayer to Him. Prayer is simply talking with God. The exact words are not as important as the attitude of your heart. Here is a suggested prayer:“Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross to pay for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Start making me the kind of person you want me to be.”
