Dancing for God’s Glory

Dancing for God’s Glory

I grew up in Christian home and accepted Christ into my life when I was young. My family would go to church almost every Sunday alongside hundreds of people. I learned that Jesus came and died for my sins on a cross because of His everlasting love for us. My church gave me more opportunities to grow in my personal faith journey through its dance program known as “Steps of Grace Ballet School.” The dancers were taught that they are not dancing for themselves, but they should give all the glory to the Lord. Every class would start with prayer requests, praises and prayer over the class. At the end we would curtsy for our Lord, thanking Him for our time on stage. I came to love dancing because I was able to tell a God’s story through movement. As I progressed through the levels, my technique improved and I built relationships that would last a lifetime.

However, during my junior year of high school, the school experienced change. The ministry received news about the faculty that caused our ministry to fall apart. We became at a loss of what the future would hold for Steps of Grace, if any. I was upset and sad that anything could happen to the ministry. I had looked up to the faculty greatly and didn’t know what my future had in store. So I turned to God and prayed for healing, forgiveness, hope, and strength. One night I remember praying to God to give me a sign of what my senior year would hold. The next morning, we recieved news there would be a new program the following year created by some of the faculty and moms of Steps of Grace. I knew then in that moment, God would always protect and watch over me. He used these hard moments to teach me to seek Him out for peace and refuge. I was able to dance with the new ballet school “Acts 17:28 Dance” my senior year.

Coming to college, God has used Cru to help me grow in my faith. I am still learning to trust Him in everything I do, but I am excited to where He will take me in the future. God has done so much good in my life and He will continue to use me to reach others.

“For in Him we live and move and have our being.” -Acts 17:28

What do you think?

If this story has encouraged you to place your faith in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord, you can do so right now, or anytime you are ready, by sincerely expressing a simple prayer to Him. Prayer is simply talking with God. The exact words are not as important as the attitude of your heart. Here is a suggested prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross to pay for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Start making me the kind of person you want me to be.”
